What to Look Out For When Changing your Print
There are a few big things to watch out for when changing your print to help keep your frames in great condition.
NEVER remove the glass. The way our frames are designed, the glass is super snug to ensure it doesn’t rattle around. As a result, it will not fit out over the pins. Please do not try to remove it as you will likely break it.
Never put the frame on a dirty surface. The last thing you want is scratches or dents from any gunk on the ground. Any stones or other bits that have been tracked in by the kids or the pets could unexpectedly cause some damage. Putting down a blanket or towel just to be sure will help prevent and scuffing or scratching.
Take the opportunity to make sure everything is nice and clean and tidy. Run a clean microfibre cloth over the back of the foam core backing to ensure no dust has caked up, wipe down the glass and frame on the front, and dust over your hanging kit.
Be careful with your mat board when removing it from the frame. Finger prints and dents are pretty impossible to combat. Marks often can’t be erased as the friction rips up the board.
Make sure your hanging kit is sturdy. You may need to untie the string, or take one d-ring out in order to make this process easier on yourself. If you do take your d-rings off regularly, be sure to put in a fresh hole every once in a while. This will just help ensure the d-rings are firmly secured. Ensure this is at least 10mm away from the original to ensure the wood doesn’t split, and pilot the hole before you screw it in.
