Fitting Matted A2 Prints
Fitting your artwork is a simple process if you know how to do it right.
There are a few easy steps can make this process significantly more simple for all of you at home.
Professional framer's tip: If you have several frames to do, invest in some compressed air in a can to help with dust removal. It will make clearing the glass far simpler.
Step One: Remove frame backing
Firstly, wash your hands and make sure they are dry to ensure you don't mark the work.
Start by opening up your new frame and removing the backing. You should never need to remove your glass, so leave it in the frame with the face of the frame facing down. We make the glass super snug to fit the frame, and it will break if you attempt to remove it past the pins.
Step Two: Mount your print
Mounting your work to the matting is a huge part in keeping your frame looking great for the long haul. The last this you want is your print slipping down!
Follow the steps in THIS article to greatly simplify this process.
Step Three: Check the glass
Check the glass for dust and marks. A clean microfibre cloth is great for getting rid of anything. If you place the frame over the print or a clean surface, it will be easier to see them. Carpet will make it really difficult!
DO NOT use any ammonia based glass cleaner products if cleaning UV Glass. It will ghost and damage the protective film causing it to look hazy and no longer protect your work.

Step Four: Lean your frame up
Leaning your frame against the wall is not a requirement, but it can make it easier to check for, and remove, specks of dust.
Make sure that the frame is resting on something soft to prevent damage (carpet, blanket, bubble wrap) and ensure it is sturdy enough to prevent it from slipping.
Step Five: Check the glass and fit
Double check for any specks of dust and clean away with a clean microfibre cloth. Do the same on the print/mat.
Put the print in the frame, bend down a pin on each side and lean back to inspect for dust. Re-open and remove any specks until happy.
Dust is one of the most difficult parts of our job, so we don’t blame you if this gets frustrating.
Step Six: Seal up frame
Once you have removed all dust from inside the frame, bend down all remaining backing pins to fully secure the frame.
Check for dust one last time!
Step Seven: Attach your hanging kit
Finish it off by putting your hanging kit on and it is ready to put on the wall!
